Funding your care
There are a number of ways that you can get support with funding the care you need. Here, we share a selection of options for you to consider.
Types of funding support
Thinking about getting started with a home care package can be a daunting task, and it can be made even more worrying when the question of how it will be funded comes into the mix. We’ve put together a few options to explore. This is not a substitute for seeking professional advice, but hopefully it’ll be helpful.
Attendance Allowance
Attendance Allowance helps with extra costs for those with illnesses or disabilities. The amount you will be paid is dependent on the care that you require.
Direct Payments
If you get help from social services, you can apply for a direct payment. This is money given to you to pay for care, and is means tested.
Continuing Health Care
The NHS provide care and funding for care for people with long term complex health needs. You will be assessed to find out if you are eligible.
Equity Release
If you own your own home, you may be able to release some of its value to pay for the care you need. This allows for you to remain at home whilst receiving care.
Equipment & Adaptations
If your care is at no cost to you, then we can support you to access profile beds, transfer equipment, wheelchairs, commodes, hand rails, shower seats – the list really does go on.
Purchasing your own Equipment
We can advise you on what equipment we think would be suitable and can risk assess any equipment purchased and to be used by our carers.
